Ian R. Saunders
Position: President, Chief Executive Officer and Director
Ian R. Saunders, age 45, holds a BSc. in Chemical Engineering from University of Cape Town, South Africa, and a Post graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Natal, South Africa. Mr. Saunders has 20 years of experience in the mining industry. In April 1996, Mr. Saunders joined Casmyn Mining Zimbabwe (Private) Limited (“Casmyn Zim”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Corporation, as Chief Metallurgist and assumed the position of General Manager in October 1997. In January 2004, he was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Casmyn Zim and in October 2006 he was also appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of the Corporation. On January 25, 2008, he was appointed as a director and in February 2008 was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation. Prior to his employment with Casmyn Zim, Mr. Saunders was employed in a variety of technical and managerial roles in South Africa and Zimbabwe. On July 8, 2010, Mr. Saunders was appointed to the board of directors of Central African Gold Limited (formerly known as Central African Gold Plc and listed on the alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange), an indirect subsidiary of the Corporation, and director of Falcon Gold Zimbabwe Limited, an indirect subsidiary of the Corporation listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange. Mr. Saunders is not a director or senior officer of any other public companies.
Robert N. Weingarten
Position: Executive Chairman and Director
Robert N. Weingarten, 60, is an experienced business consultant and advisor with an ongoing consulting practice, and since 1979 has provided financial consulting and advisory services to numerous public companies in various stages of development, operation or reorganization. Mr. Weingarten received a B.A. Degree (Accounting) from the University of Washington in 1974, and an M.B.A. Degree (Finance) from the University of Southern California in 1975. Mr. Weingarten is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) in the State of California. Mr. Weingarten was the Chief Financial Officer of the Corporation from July 1, 2000 to August 31, 2005, and the President of the Corporation from October 1, 2002 to August 31, 2005. Mr. Weingarten was the Non-Executive Chairman of the Corporation from August 31, 2005 through September 30, 2010, and was named the Executive Chairman of the Corporation in October 2010. On July 8, 2010, Mr. Weingarten was appointed to the board of directors of Central African Gold Limited (formerly known as Central African Gold Plc and listed on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange). Central African Gold Limited is an indirect subsidiary of the Corporation. Mr. Weingarten is not a director or senior officer of any other public companies.
Divo Milan
Position: Director
Divo Milan, 56, has been the Chief Executive Officer of Investigacion Estrategica, a merchant banking firm located in Mexico City, Mexico, since 1987. He has over twenty years experience in all aspects of corporate finance, investment banking, merchant banking and venture capital in Mexico and South America. Mr. Milan currently serves on the board of directors of Banca Ve por Más and Mexichem, also Chairman of the Board of Círculo de Crédito, and Círculo Laboral, both rating agencies, all of which are publicly-held companies. A graduate of Universidad IberoAmerica Mexico D.F in 1986, Mr. Milan completed his MBA at that university in 1989 and has received a diploma for International Business Studies from Harvard University. Mr Milan’s business background includes experience of doing business in South and Central America including dealing with the consequences of devaluations, rampant inflation and challenging political and economic environments, conditions currently and recently encountered by the Corporation.
Bryce Fort
Position: Director
Bryce Fort, age 33, is a Managing Director and founding partner of Emerging Capital Partners (ECP). In this capacity, he is responsible for identifying, analyzing and recommending investments, performing due diligence and leading transaction teams. Headquartered in Washington DC and with seven funds and over $1.8 billion under management, ECP is a leading private equity manager focused exclusively on Africa. Mr. Fort joined the ECP investment team in 2002. Currently, Mr. Fort is a director of both Cellcom Telecommunications Limited, a mobile telecommunications company with operations in West Africa, and Wananchi Group Holdings, a major East African home entertainment operator. Previously, Mr. Fort worked for Deutsche Bank AG’s European Healthcare Corporate Finance Group, which executed mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt financings for pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies.
